On February 1, Sunday River reached out to middle schools and high schools around the country with the ultimate contest and prize: Tell us why you should bring 49 of your closest friends to Sunday River and win an entire wing of our Snow Cap Ski Dorm for one fantastic slumber party plus two days of lift tickets, two mornings of breakfast, and a buffet dinner for 50! The trip takes place Friday, March 25 - Sunday, March 27 and where the winning school can also check out the best amateur freeskiers at the resort's third annual Dumont Cup. TheSnow Cap Ski Dorm is one of the premier youth lodging properties in New England and features bunk style accommodations along with an in house cafeteria, recreation area, and is reserved exclusively for youth groups age 12-18. The Ski Dorm has hosted church youth groups, boy scout and girl scout troops, along with school groups from across the globe.
And the winner is...
Letters, posters and other creative ways to say "I love you" and "I want to win/ski" came flooding in, but it was a song written by 11-year old Sofia Gadbois from Ipswich, MA that won our hearts.
From Sofia:
"I heard about the contest from my father. My father found out about the contest from the Sunday River mailing list. My school is the IMS, or the Ipswich Middle School. Many of my friends have never been to Sunday River, so I think this contest would be a good chance to show them how good you guys are. I wrote the poem inspired by Sunday River below. Thank you! (I’m in the middle)."
