Award-winning meeting and recreational facilities available at Sunday River

Newry, ME (Summer 2011)—Sunday River knows that its guests work hard to play even harder. It’s been the driving force behind the resort’s success as the premier ski resort in winter and as a leisure and adventure filled destination in the summer. Thus, when it comes to business and pleasure in the mountains, Sunday River’s conference service is known all over the country as a prime spot for planning meetings and business gatherings.

In the spring of 2010, Sunday River was the only Maine resort to receive the Tourism Award at the state’s annual Governor’s Conference. Maine Office of Tourism Director Patricia Eltman said in a press release: "Sunday River showed the world that Maine hospitality is second to none."

Sunday River’s two largest meeting facilities—the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel and the Grand Summit Resort Hotel—have also achieved certification from the state of Maine Department of Environmental Protection for being an environmental leader in the hospitality sector.

Between the two Grand Resort Hotels, groups of all sizes can take advantage of 22,000 square feet of ADA-approved meeting space. Individual conference rooms are also available and range in size from the 6,000-square-foot Grand Ballroom to 18 smaller meeting rooms, all of which are climate controlled and located on one floor.

Business groups looking for a completely different setting can utilize the resort’s mountaintop Peak Lodge thanks to access via the Chondola, which services the facility with a combination of six-person chairs and eight-person gondola cabins.

For those looking to leave behind the four walls of meeting space completely, Sunday River boasts the Sunday River Golf Club, named one of the “Top 100 Courses in the Country,” by Golf Magazine, as well as over 25 miles of mountain biking, 12 miles of hiking, zipline tours and, new this summer, twin zips.

Regardless of how you work up an appetite, dining options throughout the resort include banquet accommodations for large and small groups, full-service restaurants, and lounges in each hotel. The resort’s recently revised banquet menu features Maine-inspired fare featuring regional ingredients perfect for casual affairs and more formal events.

For more information on conference planning, including detailed descriptions of meeting rooms and menus, call (800) 430-0767 or email meetings@sundayriver.com. Information is also available online at www.sundayriver.com/conferences.

Sunday River is located minutes from picturesque Bethel Village in western Maine’s Mahoosuc Mountains. A true four-season destination, the resort offers eight interconnected peaks of world class skiing and snowboarding, two Grand Resort Hotels and golf at the acclaimed Sunday River Golf Club. Sunday River is a member of the Boyne Resorts family of resorts and attractions.
