Sunday River adds a new advanced/intermediate trail to its bike park

Newry, ME (Summer 2011)—Mountain bike enthusiasts at Sunday River will have another trail for honing their skills thanks to the newly created Rock Star, an advanced/intermediate single track trail located in the Sunday River Mountain Bike Park.

Home to 30 miles of lift-serviced downhill mountain bike terrain, Sunday River’s summer bike park offers trails suitable for all mountain biking levels. As well as the new trail, a maintenance plan this year for 90 percent of Sunday River’s trail network is designed to improve flow on a majority of its terrain.

“Mountain biking is evolving as a sport and we’re responding to that with this summer’s improvements,” Steve Boulanger, Director of the Sunday River Mountain Bike Park, says. “There isn’t one type of biker who comes to Sunday River, so our plan is to help ensure that each rider is getting the very best possible experience by offering great riding terrain for every level.”

Ranging from beginner trails like that of Easy Tiger to more challenging single tracks like that of this year’s new Rock Star, bikers will also find jumps, log rides, bridges, and berms sprinkled throughout most trails.

In an effort to diversify its terrain, Sunday River opened two trails last summer—Tango & Crash, an intermediate trail, and the Not Trail, a single-track expert trail—and extended its jump line, also known as Keep it Going, to almost a mile in length.

The Sunday River Mountain Bike Park will open for the summer on Saturday, June 25, 2011, and will remain open Fridays through Sundays, from 10am–4pm through the resort’s Fall Festival Weekend, October 8–9, 2011.

Lift serviced bike park tickets are priced are as follows: adult (ages 13 years and older) all day lift ticket $29; junior (12 years and younger) all day lift ticket $18; and trail access (no lift pass) $10.

Full-suspension and front-suspension mountain bike-rental rates are as follows: full-suspension $80 and front-suspension $40. Mountain Bike Season Passes are also available for the 2011 season for $269 for adults and $139 for juniors.
