11th annual event raises $2,270 for Bethel Rotary Club’s Christmas toy drive

Newry, Maine (Dec. 5, 2010) – 250 Santas skiing and snowboarding the slopes of Sunday River donated a total of $2,270 to charity today as part of the resort’s11th annual “Santa Sunday.” The money raised at this event benefits the local Bethel Rotary Club’s annual Christmas toy drive.

Participants who donned head-to-toe Santa attire received a free day of skiing or riding for today’s fundraiser as well as an additional lift ticket to use any time before December 17, 2010.

A minimum donation of $10 was required to participate and will be used to purchase gifts for children in the Bethel, Maine, area.

The 11th annual Santa Sunday was held on Sunday River’s Broadway trail. Sunday River was the first resort in the country to open back on October 22, 2010, and currently boasts the most amount of open terrain on the East Coast including 32 trails and 171 acres.

And, thanks to lots of early Christmas wishes today, Sunday River is expected to see up to half a foot of natural snow this coming week.
