Special savings include $50 lift tickets and Ski and Stay Packages starting at $89 per person

Newry, Maine (January 16, 2012)—In 1961, Sunday River Resort installed its second T-bar, electronic toothbrushes were invented, and Barbie met Ken for the first time. Fast forward to today: Barbie and Ken are sporting new, more modern looks; our pearly whites glow; and Sunday River is one of the biggest resorts in New England. To celebrate our changes and those who have been with us since the early ’60s, Sunday River will be hosting its annual Go50 Week, taking place January 23–27, 2012.

Ski and stay packages for Go50 Week start at $89 per night and include lift tickets, lodging, and an adult ski/snowboard clinic per night booked. Week-long packages for $309 are also available and come complete with the same inclusions, and for guests interested in day trips, lift tickets for those 50 and older are only $50 and available to purchase Monday through Friday of next week.

Special events planned for Go50 Week include a Social at the Foggy Goggle on Monday afternoon where guests can mingle with members of the PrimeTime Ski Club and take in a special presentation on the history of Maine skiing by Scott Andrews. Plus, all week long the Prime Time Ski Club will meet and offer free tours from the Peak Lodge starting at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, ski and ride all day or save room for off-mountain fun, including free Snowflake Factory Tours and a special Francis Ford Coppola wine dinner later that night.

Wednesday promises to be action packed with a giant slalom race from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. and après entertainment in the Barker Bar starting at 4 p.m.

Come Thursday, keep the energy going with a Go50 celebration at the Matterhorn Ski Bar, or relax at the special “unWined” spa party where guests can choose from a list of 30-minute treatments and mix and match according to their needs—all accompanied by a complimentary glass of wine. One treatment is $54, two treatments are $99, and three treatments are $134.

Home to New England most dependable snow spread across eight interconnected mountain peaks, Sunday River is a winter wonderland with on-mountain fun including skiing, snowboarding, and winter zipline tours, as well as off-slope activities including two spas, a Nordic Center, and retail outlets.
