• Boundary to Boundary Skiing & Riding: 
  Sunday River offers 743 acres of developed trails and glades, but within the boundaries of the resort’s ski area, you’ll find nearly 2,000 acres of terrain to explore. We allow skiing and riding anywhere within the ski area boundary with the exception of trails or areas marked as closed.
  
  When exploring these areas, please exercise caution, beware of the inherent risks and dangers of skiing, and do not ski/ride alone. Although these boundary-to-boundary areas are open for skiing and riding, they are not maintained by ski patrol, and parties requiring assistance will be charged for rescue cost. Helmets are recommended.  Accessing closed terrain, whether by ducking a rope or entering from adjacent areas, will result in loss of your lift ticket or season pass. 
• Terrain Parks: 
  Sunday River includes five terrain parks ranging from beginner to advanced, plus one superpipe and one minipipe. Whoville, Sunday River’s beginner terrain park, is located near South Ridge Base Lodge and includes mini jumps and rollers, perfect for testing speed and skills. The South Ridge Jib Park, located near South Ridge Base Lodge, includes varying levels of rails for the more intermediate skier/rider. Starlight, located off the Little White Cap chairlift, is a designated boarder/skiercross run, while Rocking Chair Park, located on Barker Mountain near the base lodge, takes skills to the next level with a series of advanced jumps and rails.

  Sunday River has 16 lifts including a hybrid chairlift/gondola called the Chondola, four high-speed quads, five fixed quads, three triples, one double, and two surface lifts for an uphill capacity of approximately 40,000 passengers per hour.  
• Snowfall/Snowmaking: 
  Sunday River averages over 167 inches (14 feet) of snowfall a year and has one of the most advanced, comprehensive snowmaking systems on the planet covering 92 percent of the resort’s trails (616 acres, 250 hectares).

  » New! Cho Sun:  Located in the South Ridge Base Lodge food court, Cho Sun is a Korean and Japanese extension of local favorite, Bethel-based, Cho Sun. Specializing in noodle bowls, sushi, and sake, Cho Sun offers a healthy and filling alternative to the typical mountain fare of burgers and fries.

  » Dining at The Peak:  Located at the Peak Lodge, Dining at The Peak is Sunday River’s most unique fine-dining experience. Guests enjoy stunning views of the Mahoosuc Range while riding the Chondola lift to North Peak where a seasonal menu featuring Maine’s favorite fare is paired with a complete wine list.   » Foggy Goggle:  The Foggy Goggle is located in South Ridge Base Lodge and landed two 2011 Best of Bethel Awards:  Best Bar–Après Ski and Best Nachos. With outside deck seating available, the Foggy Goggle features kid-friendly, all-American fare, including hand-crafted soups and chowder, traditional Maine lobster rolls, burgers, and salads.   » Legends:  A casual fine-dining experience for the whole family, Legends features a delicious menu of Maine-made products and ingredients not to mention a full-service bar and extensive wine list. Drink of choice:  One of Legends’ signature martinis. Plus, kids 12 and younger eat free when staying at either Grand Resort Hotel and accompanied by a paying adult. Located upstairs in the Barker Base Lodge, Barker Pub is known for its highly coveted mug club, its toasty fireplace, and its prime deck seating at the base of Monday Mourning.

  » Pejamajo Café:  Because Pejamajo Café has two locations at Sunday River, it’s not uncommon to see skiers and riders walking by clutching crepes. With one location just outside of the Barker Base Lodge and the other inside South Ridge Base Lodge, Pejamajo Café is the go-to spot for mouth-watering crepes that span the entire scale of sweet to savory. The crepes are packed with just enough filling to be considered a meal and skiers and riders love how easy it is to take this chairlift-friendly glove and mitten food on the go with them.

  » Shuttle Service:  Sunday River is served by two transportation systems:  the on-mountain Resort Shuttle and the local Mountain Explorer. Both are free services and link the mountain with lodging properties, activities, dining, shopping, and entertainment throughout the Newry and Bethel areas.

  Sunday River's main rental shop is located in the South Ridge Base Lodge and offers an extensive product selection and inventory to accommodate both adults and children. The Children's Rental Shop is located adjacent to the South Ridge Base Lodge in the Perfect Turn Children's Center. Guests will find high-performance demos available out of Sunday River Sports located in the South Ridge Base Lodge.

• Perfect Turn Ski and Ride School: 
  From beginner classes to refresher clinics, Sunday River’s Perfect Turn Ski and Ride School is a leader in teaching the skills necessary to have fun out on the slopes. Offering group and private clinics daily for all ages and all abilities, as well as a variety of seasonal programs, Perfect Turn offers something for every age and ability level.
  
  Adult programs include:  Learn to Ski/Ride, Group Clinics, Private Lessons, Specialty Women’s Clinics, and

• Gould Academy Competition Program: 
  The Gould Academy Competition program (GACP) strives to teach young athletes ages 8 and older the skills to improve their techniques and the motivation to fuel their desire to become the best skiers and riders they can be. This program is designed for skiers and riders who have the ability to ski/ride the mountain and the desire to compete and learn from some of the best coaches in the country. GACP provides low coach-to-athlete ratios in Alpine, freestyle, and snowboarding disciplines. 
   
  The program runs each weekend and holiday period, beginning November 21 and continuing through the last weekend in March. Generally, the training days consist of two sessions. The first begins at 8: 25 a.m. and ends at 2: 15 p.m. A full break is provided between each session for plenty of time to warm up, eat, and spend time with family and friends.
• Sunday River Outdoor Center: 
  The Sunday River Outdoor Center, located in the former Sunday River Inn, offers guests 35 kilometers of Nordic trails plus extensive, well-marked snowshoe trails. Throughout the winter, the Sunday River Outdoor Center provides families with a place to buy and rent Nordic equipment, grab a quick bite to eat, and participate in fun evening activities on weekends and busy holiday weeks. • Day Care: 
  Sunday River offers on-site day care for children ages six weeks to six years at three on-mountain locations. Full- and half-day day care is available. Sunday River Day Care offers guests three fully licensed child-care facilities according to the State of Maine Department of Human Services. Reservations are required in advance as space is limited and for staffing purposes. Occasionally, walk-ins will be welcome, if space is available.

• Maine Handicapped Skiing: 
  Sunday River is proud to be the sponsor and home of Maine Handicapped Skiing, a free adaptive sports  program providing people with physical disabilities the opportunity to Alpine and Nordic ski, ride, and snowshoe in the winter and golf, paddle, and cycle in the summer.

  MHS provides standard and adaptive ski, snowboard, and snowshoe equipment, warm winter clothing when needed, and specially trained volunteers to instruct adults and children with physical disabilities (ages 4 and up) so they can become independent snow sports enthusiasts. The organization provides over 1,800 free adaptive lessons every winter at Sunday River from early January through March thanks to the help of over 390 volunteers.

• Green Initiative: 
  Sunday River is committed to the environment and has worked over the years to establish and maintain best practices for being green. Both the Jordan Grand Resort Hotel and the Grand Summit Resort Hotel are considered “environmental leaders” with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection due to comprehensive conservation efforts in administration, housekeeping, landscaping, water, and energy use, including such small changes as motion-sensing lights in corridors and recycling bins in the rooms.

  Improvements to the resort include low-flow fixtures on showers and toilets, low-energy snow guns that use 40% of the energy standard guns require, and erosion control to reduce silt and water runoff. The resort is also a voluntary member of the U.S. EPA’s WasteWise program, through which organizations eliminate municipal solid waste and select industrial wastes. WasteWise reported Sunday River kept nearly 84 tons of material out of landfills in 2009 due, in part, to its efforts to recycle and reduce the use of non-biodegradable products.

  Finally, Boyne Resorts, Sunday River’s parent company, has partnered with Cool Earth. For every ton of CO2 generated by a Boyne Resorts lodge, lift, and vehicle, two tons of equivalent emissions are prevented through an investment in rainforest protection. Boyne Resorts' commitment to protecting 141 acres of endangered rainforest is enough to cover twice its carbon emission (based on the company's current resort portfolio) over a one-year period. Boyne Resorts’ pledge to rainforest protection is already impacting the security of trees and the lives of those in local communities in Peru, such as the Ashaninka.
