Jazz Vermont is a 5 1/2 day Band Camp for Grownups. Participants rehearse, study and play 6-7 hours a day in preparation for the final concert on Thursday night. Most Jazz Vermonters have other careers including medicine, law, computers, management, teaching, dentistry, etc. Participants attend from all over the world. The program has been featured on the Today Show, 1986; PBS, 1987, WBZ-Boston, 1987. Our annual Parrot Head Festival is a weekend in paradise and the biggest spring party of the year. Join the celebration Friday through Sunday with Jimmy Buffett cover bands, our infamous pond-skimming competition, fun contests, prizes, parties, a key lime pie eating contest and more. And don't forget to check out Sunday River's legendary Bust 'n' Burn mogul competition.

Led by our summer high school intern or BHS volunteer, guided tours of the historic village area will take place Saturdays at 11:00 a.m.; meet at the bell tower on the north end of the common.

On the night of August 13, watch the Perseid meteors adorn this short summer night from late night till dawn. What better way to watch bright meteors radiate from a point in the constellation Perseus the Hero, then from the new Peak Lodge Deck. Between 8-11pm, we'll be dancing under the stars with live entertainment from the Rick Graham Band. Plus you will be treated to a variety of delectable passed hors d’oeuvres. For this one special evening, you can even pitch a tent up around the Peak Lodge and watch the stars all night long!
For a truly unique experience, enjoy a Chondola lift ride by the light of the full moon. Then head over to the mid mountain lodge for a dinner featuring some of the freshest local summer ingredients and live music from

The 11th Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship takes place Saturday, October 9, 2010! Expect crowds of over 2,000 fans out to watch up to 50 teams from across the country complete for a spot in the World Championships in Finland. Bragging rights are definitely a perk to winning but perhaps the biggest incentive are the prizes of the wife's weight in beer and five times the wife's weight in cash! Last year’s winners were Dave and Lacey Castro of Lewiston, Maine with a time of 54.45. They beat the second place team by a commanding four second gap. Will they race again this year? Keep checking back here for more information as we near this year’s race. Registration will be posted on Monday, August 16, 2010.

You will have the opportunity to compete in one of three courses that range in difficulty from tough to absolutely crazy hard. The 4-mile course is do-able for most athletes and tops one peak, the 7-mile course covers 5 peaks and the 11-mile course covers all 8 peaks of Sunday River. All courses will be supported with aid stations and signage. No matter what race you choose, it is guaranteed to be an epic experience!
Come celebrate the arrival of winter and the upcoming holiday season while raising money for a good cause with our 11th Annual Santa Sunday. Dress in a full Santa costume and you can ski or ride for free. Pre-registration required. We will announce registration date in November.
