Celebrate the fourth with the Bethel community. This free event starts at noon on the side lawn of the Dr. Moses Mason House (14 Broad St.) with a picnic. Bring your lunch, and after the presentation of colors and the National Anthem, enjoy a two-hour concert by the Portland Brass Quintet.
Come help celebrate 20 years of art on the village common. From 9am-4pm The Bethel Art Fair will feature Maine artists and artisans displaying paintings, photography, sculptures, jewelry, pottery and more.
The fastest cars on dirt converge at Sunday River for two days of off road racing. The 19th running of the New England Forest Rally represents round six of the Rally America National Championship Series. The event draws competitors from across the globe to race on the regions logging roads from Berlin, NH to Mexico, Maine.
A community event including the Mollyockett Day Classic Road Race, parade, frog jumping contest, crowning of "Princess" Mollyockett, community band concert, ARTirondack chair auction & raffle, great duck race, craft show, plenty of food & games, evening concert, fireworks, and much more.
Saturday features the first annual kid's triathlon, and Sunday is the Maine State Triathlon on one of the most beautiful courses in New England with a 1k swim on Songo Pond, 25k road bike and 5k Cross Country trail run.

The 10th annual North American Wife Carrying Championship takes place Saturday, October 10, 2009. Last year's event drew over 2,000 spectators to watch teams compete for the wife's weight in Bud Light beer plus cash. Starts 11 a.m.
The un-official kick-off to winter, Fall Festival, comes to Sunday River October 10 and 11th. Come celebrate the end of summer with live music, a wine tasting, the always entertaining North American Wife Carrying Championship and a full array of activities for the whole family.
