New photos from another beautiful day!

Wednesday, 26 August 2009 by Darcy

Thanks to Chris and Helen Davies for these beautiful shots!  Helen works and the Grand Summit Hotel's concierge desk and when she mentioned to me yesterday that she was cutting out early to go play 18-holes I thought two things:  "Lucky! What a great day for golf" and "Ahhh - I want to play too! Can you take some pictures for my blog?"

Although I was unable to play, I am totally stoked that they snapped som pictures for us to all enjoy.  I never did get their scores...hmmmm.

A Word From Golf Pro Peter Flint:

Wednesday, 12 August 2009 by Darcy

August is upon us here in the Mahoosuc Glenn, and the Sunday River Golf Club staff could not be more happy. With several straight days of blue bird skies and a slight breeze, golfing conditions are absolutely perfect. For the first time this season we are now allowing golf carts to stray off the path. That means quite simply, less walking and more golfing! Reservations are booking rapidly amidst the changing seasons, so call today to reserve your round when Sunday River is at its best. Enjoy some of my pictures from the Club Championship below.

Maine Governor Baldacci Enjoys Government Holiday at the Sunday River Golf Club

Friday, 7 August 2009 by Darcy

There really is no day away from the office, especially when you are the governor of Maine. However, Maine government employees took today off unpaid allowing for Governor John Baldacci to enjoy 18-holes with Sunday River General Manager, Dana Bullen and President of the Maine Chamber of Commerce, Dana F. Connors.

Only Baldacci's second time to the Sunday River Golf Club, he was excited to play given today's beautiful weather and added, "What I like best about the Sunday River Golf Club is that you don't have to be a golfer to enjoy yourself.  The moment you step onto the first tee and look around, you know that you are somewhere spectacular."

Pictures from the Course

Thursday, 6 August 2009 by Darcy

Good morning golfers -

Hard to beat this weather!  Sun, sun and more sun - the Sunday River Golf Course is practically begging us to play it.  Two of my friends went out yesterday to play 18-holes (oh, the life of leisure they lead) and said that it was awesome.  Here are some pictures of the back nine - enjoy!

How to Score a Deal

Tuesday, 4 August 2009 by Darcy

Good morning fellow golfers - two quick points of interest:

I played 9-holes last night at the Sunday River Golf Club, and had an absolute blast! The weather was phenomenal and the course looked and played great.  For those of you still getting to know me, I am a huge fan of twilight golf! Most of the time, you feel like you are the only person out on the course and the scenery comes alive with the light of the setting sun (I know...poetic and cheesy - but true!). I have been playing golf now for almost four years and while I continue to progress, I still feel some pressure to perform - especially during the day when you are trying to keep the game moving and not hold up the people behind you.  With twilight golf, this feeling of pressure completely disappears.

With that said, there is a great deal going on right now for people like myself who like twilight golf.  Nine-holes for two people for just $60! That's right - $30 a person!  The deal is good for 9-holes after 3pm Mondays-Fridays (except Tuesdays).

I must apologize for not having any pictures to post - my camera battery went on the fritz yesterday afternoon and has yet to recover.  I have some friends going out tomorrow who promised to take some pictures of the front and back nine, so check back soon for pictures!

Until then - happy golfing,
Darcy
