GSR Competition

GSR (Gould Academy / Sunday River Competition Program) provides competitive programs for young athletes, ages 8 and up, with established skiing or riding skills that desire to become more proficient in alpine, freestyle, or snowboard disciplines.

The GSR Program specifically focuses on the disciplines within alpine skiing, (slalom, giant slalom, super G and downhill), freestyle skiing (moguls and freeride) and snowboarding (halfpipe, slopestyle and boardercross).

We encourage a fun positive team environment, offering young skiers the opportunity to learn, train and compete with their peers in a healthy, positive way. Athletes are provided with training and competition opportunities each weekend and holiday period, beginning November 23rd and continuing through the last weekend in March.

Generally, each of the approximately 49 training days consists of two sessions. The typical training day begins at 7:55 am and ends 2:00-2:30 pm. A full break is provided between each session for plenty of time to warm up, eat, and spend time with family and friends. Weekly training groups within GSR are based on age and skill; within each age group, a youngster will ski with coaches who identify their current skill and ability and format training to fit the athlete. GSR reserves the right to place athletes in the appropriate training group or to refuse enrollment. Group to coach ratios are generally 8:1.
