Learn To Ski & Ride

While some resorts have an area dedicated to learning, we have an entire facility in the Sprint Discovery Center. Everything about this facility and our approach to learning is completely geared toward introducing people to skiing and riding and making it easy to learn.

The state-of-the-art magic carpet surface lift is the easiest and most fun way to get up the slope and it is located just steps away from the Sprint Discovery Center.

Your coach will help you choose your rental equipment and ensure your boots fit comfortably and your skis or board are the right length. Before you go out on the snow, you'll watch a short video so you'll know what to expect.

And once you're outside, you'll be learning in an area dedicated just to you. No pressure. Just you and your desire to learn and improve. It's the ultimate way to learn. Guaranteed.

Adult First Experience Skier / Rider Package

$80 - Designed for the first timer (ages 15+), this three- to four-hour clinic is an introduction to skiing or riding. Your coach will walk you through every step of the process from arrival through your on-snow experience. Includes equipment rental, clinic and limited-access lift ticket.*

Adult Three-Day Learn to Ski / Ride Package

$180 - Designed to guide the first timer (ages 15+) through their first three days on the hill, this package is the best and most effective way to learn. You are guaranteed to reach a comfort level in riding the lift and skiing or riding on Green terrain. Day 1 is our First Experience introduction; Days 2 & 3 are 90-minute group clinics. Includes equipment rental, clinic and limited-access lift ticket* for each day. This package may be used on non-consecutive days at Sunday River or Sugarloaf through the end of the season.

Junior First Experience Skier / Rider Package

$70 - A one day Learn-to package designed for ages 7 to 14 that follows the same proven approach as our regular adult programs. The Junior Package includes equipment rental, a two-hour clinic and limited access lift ticket*.

Adult First Experience clinics depart from the Sprint Discovery Center at the South Ridge Base Lodge regularly from 9am to 12pm. Typical group size is six participants for each coach. Many times there will be less, and occasionally there may be more. First time skiers and riders are recommended to purchase tickets and book a clinic time at the Discovery Center. Reservations can be made up to 48 hours in advance, by calling 207-824-5959, but walk-in guests are also welcome. One day Junior Packages can be purchased in advance or at the Children's Center adjacent to South Ridge.

*Limited-access lift ticket includes lifts 2, 6, 16 and the Chondola (lift 7), which covers the majority of Sunday River's Green terrain. Learn-to programs are available for persons ages 15 and up, Junior Learn-to is ages 7 - 14.
