What's up with there being no park today and them taking down all the rails? Is the snowboard event going to be going through the park? And by the way the park page is still posting that Rocking chair is still open.

The World Cup boardercross course will be going down Lower Sunday Punch thru Rocking Chair.

As far as the park page goes.. I don't think that it is updated very much.

that's pretty much the dumbest idea i've ever heard of. i mean, what is starlight even for? now they'll have to completely rebuild a perfect park after this world cup. i just feel bad for the high schoolers who cant hit jumps during their vacation.

Hmmm lots and lots of media attention, resulting in more skier traffic. Yup SR made a horrible decision in hosting this event. Do you really think Seth Wescott, Palmer, Lindsey Jacobellis and the rest of the pros want to be racing on Starlight?

Don't worry after the event, SR will be able to rebuild the park better than it was.

MB - here is list of who is attending : http://www.sundayriver.com/Events/Main/Wor...oard_Event.html

This event is HUGE for Snowboarding and Sunday River. Do you see these comps on ESPN and the coverage these events get? All western resorts. World class riders will be here. This is no
t a course you can build on starlight. These people have been to the Olympics and the X games.

Some of these people are Olympic level racers. I don't know if you saw Wescott race the Olympic course, but it is WAY more technical/challenging than anything Starlight could ever offer.

Here's the skinny, the parks page will be updated bright and early, sorry for the trouble. There is plenty more up to date information on the full mountain report which stated that Rocking Chair would be closed today, and throughout the World Cup. There are still plenty of options as far as parks, Starlight does offer some nice jump lines, and while they may not be as big as the ones in RC they are bigger then the ones in Who-Ville. The jib-park always gets some love from the parks crew, as well as both the mini and superpipe. Bottom line is that Sunday River gets to play host to a premier event, drawing in Olympic level talent, and it will be broadcast nationally...I don't see how this is a bad thing at all, we are all giving up a little for a couple of weeks, so the mountain and ultimately us will get a lot in the long run. There is still a lot of season left to go, and there are still big things in the works for the parks so sit tight and enjoy the World Cup. Which today I got to ski down into the course and I didn't recognize it as Sunday Punch, pictures to come tomorrow.

As a paying customer I don't see how I get anything out of this. Trails that I would like to ski are closed. I won't be here when the Olympic level talent will be here. And even if I was going to be here, I pay to ski not to watch.

The trail closings at Barker today were ridiculous. Agony, Southpaw, Sunday Punch, and Rocking Chair were closed to prepare for this event. Right Stuff was closed for a while for race training. T2 was closed for a while for race training. That put a whole lot of skiers on a small number of trails.

I understand the mountain is deriving some sort of business benefit from this event. But don't insult my intelligence by trying to convince me that this is "good for me". That is total BS.

So will the general public get to try the course before or after the competition? Then it would be great for me. Otherwise, I don't care to see the pictures of something I can't use; save it TV. Will there be a way to ski Agony and Southpaw at all next week?

Could someone provide info on what specific Barker trails are going to be closed this weekend due to the world cup preparations and/or racing? Are southpaw/agony closed all weekend? Are T2 and Monday Mourning also going to be closed for race training at the same time?

This resort has 8 peaks and over 100 trails. More tomorrow including the woods after this dump of snow. Sorry but you sound like a bunch of whiners. Some of those trails were closed because they were getting everything groomed out and ready to get a foot of snow on it.

Half a dozen paying customers vs. Hosting a premiere event with Shawn White et al and media?

Bygones dudes but the mountain wins.

This isn't a competition between me and the mountain. Last I checked I was the customer. I expect to be the winner. Otherwise I take my business elsewhere.

The advertising says 131 trails. That is what I bought my lift ticket and/or pass for. Not 131 trails minus whatever they can sell to somebody else.

I can say that 99% chance that the course is opened to the public will be a no.

The course does not interfere with Agonay, SP so I would guess that they will be open.

That was not the case today. Both were closed because of course construction.
