Sunday River Bike Park
The Sunday River Bike Park is a downhill rider's playground with 20 miles of lift-serviced terrain. Best suited for intermediate and advanced riders, our terrain is quite technical but with the Mountain Bike School, new and novice downhillers ages 10 and older (with prior bike experience) can learn the skills necessary to ride safely and confidently.
Intermediate riders can choose between moderate single track options, slick rock, jump lines, and flow trails. Last summer, Sunday River's Park Crew improved the intermediate Flatten 'Em trail by widening it from 12 inches wide to about 36 inches wide and added banks, berms, jumps and rolls. According to Bike Park Director Steve Boulanger, "Flatten 'Em is now arguably the smoothest and definitely the widest trail Sunday River offers."
Options in the park really open up for advanced riders with plenty of technical single track, steep downhill trails, and manufactured terrain options. Over the last few years, the park crew has been hard at work adding new trails and creating machine-built terrain including jumps, berms, and flow trails, and adding log and bridge work. If you haven't visited Sunday River for a few years, now's the time to come back and find out what you've been missing.
The bike park is serviced by Sunday River's Chondola lift, which provides high-speed access to a trail network that covers the North Peak and South Ridge areas of the resort, with longer trails branching out from the primary trail network.
To make a night of it, check out our summer lodging rates starting at $159 per room.
Summer Trail Closures: Please note that Tango & Crash and the Not Trail will be closed this summer as the resort installs a new chairlift on Spruce Peak. Three Mile Trail and Summit Traverse will also experience some closures throughout the summer as a result of lift construction.
Mountain Bike School
For new downhillers, minimally experienced beginners, or intermediates looking to improve, the Mountain Bike School is a great option for you. We offer 90-minute clinics that include a bike rental from Specialized, a helmet, and instruction. Under the tutelage of a PMBIA-Certified Coach, new riders go from crashing to crushing in no time, and more experienced downhillers can focus on specific skills and maneuvers. Please note that the minimum age for the Mountain Bike School is 10 years old, but it is recommended that riders are comfortable on a bicycle and are roughly five feet tall if using one of our rentals. Classes begin at 10AM, 12:30PM, and 2PM. Space is limited and reservations are recommended. Call 800-543-2754 to reserve your spot in class.
