Gus Kenworthy Wins The 2014 Dumont Cup
Gus Kenworthy captured his second Dumont Cup victory with fellow Olympians Nick Goepper and Bobby Brown in second and third.
Simon Dumont came home to Sunday River to host the sixth annual Dumont Cup over March 28 and 29, 2014. The biggest freeski competition in the East got even bigger this season as the event moved to a new venue on the T72 terrain park with over 1,000 spectators turning out to catch the finals in person while thousands more watched the live stream on Freeskier.com as Gus Kenworthy held off Nick Goepper and Bobby Brown to take the top spot.
Ranked as a Platinum event by the Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) with $25,000 in cash up for grabs, the Dumont Cup drew nearly 100 competitors this year including all three Olympic slopestyle medalists and over a dozen top pros from around the world on top of a hard-charging amateur field that gave the pros a run for their money. The athletes didn't disappoint the crowd as they hit a technical course designed by Simon himself and Craig Coker that started with three rail lines before dropping into a set of three jumps ranging from 55 to 75 feet, with the crowd lining the course from top to bottom.
