Friday, April 4

Saturday, April 5
11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. ~ On Saturday, you'll find the entire White Cap base area transformed into a giant beach with activities and entertainment all day long. Parrothead Festival begins bright and early as The Cocabanana Band take to the stage at 11:30 a.m. The Cocabanana Band incorporates Latin rhythms with steel drums and intricate harmonies for an authentic Caribbean sound.
1 p.m. ~ Spam Carving Contest Leave it to the Parrot Head Club of the Northern Tropics to come up with this idea--and what a wonderful idea it is! Test your processed meat-carving skills and create a sculpture out of two cans of SPAM. Anything goes (PG-rated, of course). Registration will be at noon at the Parrot Head Club's Tiki Hut in the White Cap base area. Participants will have 10 minutes to complete their sculptures. Ready? Set? Carve!
1:45 p.m. - 3:45 p.m. ~ The party continues with PanNeaubean Steel--New England's premier steel drum band. They bring authentic steelpan music to the stage, along with the sound of seven other instruments! PanNeaubean Steel incorporates many different genres of music to create the unique essence of the band. You can expect to hear tantalizing sounds inspired by Caribbean, Jazz, Soul, Fusion, and Classical music styles. PanNeaubean Steel will be sure to give you that island feel!
3 p.m. ~ Margarita Mix-off Everyone's favorite drinking competition is back! Local establishments put their mixes to your taste test for the coveted title of People's Choice for the area's best margarita. Today's margarita is a many-sided drink, changing faces easily and lending itself to varied blends. For only $1 per sample, you will have the opportunity to taste seven very different versions of this amazing cocktail. Try them all and vote for your favorite!
4 p.m. - 6 p.m. ~ Up next: Parrotbeach, a Jimmy Buffet tribute band from New Jersey, will have you singing, laughing, and dancing to their tunes. They'll be playing your favorite island music and providing fun for the whole family!
9 p.m. ~ Saturday night, the party is at the Matterhorn Ski Bar with Last Kid Picked. Say goodbye to all of your friends at the Matterhorn during their last weekend of the season. Keep in mind, though, that we'll be skiing and riding on the mountain for as long as we can.
9 p.m. ~ Stop by to see Pardon Me, Doug at The Phoenix to get your party on in true Phish style.
Sunday, April 6
11 a.m. ~ Pond Skimming
Sunday River has been hosting Pond Skimming for years, and we've finally decided to take it to the next level. This year, we will encourage skiers, snowboarders, and snowbladers alike to practice their pond skimming skills on Sunday, April 6 before returning the following weekend for the first-ever Pond-A-Palooza Extravaganza. So, take this opportunity on Sunday, April 6 to hone your skills and then come on back the following weekend to show us what you've got!
12 p.m. ~ There's still more partying in paradise on Sunday! The party continues with an encore performance from The Cocabanana Band, who'll bring the White Cap beach to life with their feel-good, party-at-the-beach vibes.
1 p.m. ~ Key Lime Pie Eating Contest
If all off the BBQ and beverages haven't satisfied your sweet tooth, then why not enter the Key Lime Pie Eating Contest? Who will be the first to finish a Key lime pie and become this year's Sunday River Key Lime Pie Eating Champion? All pies are made and delivered fresh from Valley View Orchard, a family-owned business in Hebron, Maine. Registration starts at noon in the White Cap base area. It's free to enter, but beware, we may take your picture and post it on the web like this lucky guy.
While Parrothead Festival is the party of the year, it's also a collaborative effort with the Parrot Head Club of the Northern Tropics, to raise money for their charity. The Parrot Head Club of the Northern Tropics is part of a worldwide network of Jimmy Buffett enthusiasts who provide support to not-for-profit humanitarian and environmental causes.
The weekend is not only a great chance to party and welcome the arrival of spring, but it also supports a great cause, making a difference in others' life.
* Please note that grills and open fires are not permitted in the White Cap Lodge parking lots for public safety reasons.
