Spring Festival Brings the Beach to the Slopes of Maine's Sunday River Resort
Annual spring event on March 31-April 1 celebrates warmer weather with new Friday night rave, live music, a margarita mix-off, and the return of the resort's annual Slip 'n' Flip CompetitionMarch 23, 2017
NEWRY, ME (March 23, 2017)-The party formerly known as Parrothead at Sunday River Resort is back and better than ever. Spring Festival presented by Bud Light pairs spring skiing with beach-themed festivities for 48 hours of fun on Friday, March 31 and Saturday, April 1, 2017.
New this year, Spring Festival kicks off with the Beach Party Rave on Friday at the resort's White Cap Lodge from 8 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. with renowned artist DJ BREK.ONE on the turntables. Expect a bonfire, glow sticks, fire dancers, and an outdoor bar for added excitement. Inside the lodge, the Shipyard Brew Haus will be open with the Ball Brothers playing music upstairs.
On Saturday, slopeside events at White Cap include the 3rd Annual Slip 'n' Flip competition and the Margarita Mix-Off. During the Slip 'n' Flip tournament, 16 teams of five will compete in a single elimination relay-style race where they slide down a slope and to a table. At the table, they'll drink a cup of punch and flip the cup until it is standing upright. The cost is $10 per team.
During the Margarita Mix-Off, local establishments will produce their take on a creative, flavorful, and innovative margarita to be judged by festival-goers and a celebrity panel. Samples cost $1 per drink. Proceeds from the Slip 'n' Flip competition and the Margarita Mix-Off benefit the 501c3 Sunday River Community Fund.
Live music is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and includes such acts as the Singepole Mountain Band, Spencer Albee, and El Grande.
Admission to Friday and Saturday's live performances is free.
