Sunday River Resort to Host Two Maine Brew Fest Events
First of two festivals will feature as many as 50 Maine craft beers, a disc golf tournament on the resort’s new 18-hole alpine course, and a Full Moon Beer Dinner at resort’s mid-mountain lodgeMay 15, 2017
Newry, Maine (May 15, 2017)-Sunday River Resort will host not one but two Maine Brew Fests, and will kick off its first festival with a full moon beer dinner, as many as 50 craft beers from around the state, and a disc golf tournament on the resort's new 18-hole alpine course.
Set for September 8-10, 2017 and April 6-8, 2018, the Maine Brew Fests at Sunday River are the resort's own and will combine craft beers with live music and friendly competitions.
The Maine Brew Fest's September Session
First pour at Sunday River's Maine Brew Fest will happen under a Harvest Moon on Friday, September 8, at the Full Moon Beer Dinner at the resort's mid-mountain Peak Lodge. This reservation-only kick-off event will feature a six-pint, four-course dinner menu and live music. Tickets are $59 for the Full Moon Beer Dinner or $89 for the Full Moon Beer Dinner and entry into the Maine Beer Fest and available to purchase at sundayriver.com starting Thursday, June 1, 2017 (updated 5/26/2017). Lodging is also available to book, starting at $159 per night (breakfast included).
On Saturday, September 9, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., The Maine Brew Fest--featuring as many as 50 craft beer selections from the state--will open in the South Ridge base area to guests of all ages.
In addition to beer sampling (for guests ages 21 and older), live music will play throughout the day, and the resort's Mountain Park will boast family friendly activities like zipline tours, twin zips, scenic lift rides, and a bungee trampoline. The resort will also host the first-ever Sunday River Disc Golf Tournament that morning.
Two types of Maine Brew Fest tickets available to purchase include:
1. The General Taster Ticket:
- $30 if purchased by August 15. Price includes a special event glass, 15 four-ounce samples, and a scenic lift ride ticket.
- $35 if purchased between August 16-September 1. Price includes a special event glass, 15 four-ounce samples, and a scenic lift ride ticket.
- $40 if purchased after September 1. Price includes 15 four-ounce samples and a scenic lift ticket.
2. The Beer Connoisseur Ticket (only 200 will be sold!):
- $45 if purchased by August 15. Price includes a special event glass, 15 four-ounce samples, a scenic lift ride pass, an event t-shirt, and 1-hour early admission to the event.
- $50 purchased between August 16-September 1.Price includes a special event glass, 15 four-ounce samples, a scenic lift ride pass, an event t-shirt, and 1-hour early admission to the event.
- This ticket is no longer available starting September 1.
On Sunday, beer enthusiasts are invited to the local Sunday River Brewing Company for a Kegs n' Eggs Brunch. Located on the Sunday River Access Road, the Sunday River Brewing Company features house eight brews, as well as seasonal selections, and incredible outdoor seating. The Sunday River Brewing Company's Kegs n' Eggs event is not included in any Maine Brew Fest ticket.
Sunday River Disc Golf Tournament
In addition to sampling the best beers from around Maine, guests are also welcome to register for the first-ever Sunday River Disc Golf Tournament taking place during the Maine Brew Fest on Saturday, September 9, 2017. A doubles championship, this event takes place on Sunday River's new 18-hole alpine course--the only course of its kind in Maine with chairlift service.
Open to teams of two, registration is $50 per team for pros, $40 per team for advanced, and $30 per team for intermediate. Cash prizes are available to the first-place teams and announced later Saturday afternoon. Registration for the Sunday River Disc Golf Tournament opens online at sundayriver.com on Monday, May 29, 2017 and does not include entry into the Maine Brew Fest.
Looking Ahead: The Maine Brew Fest Spring Session
For those who like to plan ahead, the resort's second Maine Brew Fest is scheduled for April 6-8, 2018, and will feature craft breweries, live music, and friendly on-snow competitions including the always popular "Sip 'n' Flip"-a tubing meets flip cup experience for all ages. More details on the spring session will be posted online at sundayriver.com after the resort opens for skiing and snowboarding for the 2017-18 winter season.
