Sunday River snowboarder Andrew Kahkonen claimed 1st place at the Union Square Street Sessions Qualifier besting 16 of the East's top riders.

He'll be competing in NYC on Feb 7 with the best riders in the country for a one hour program on NBC. He also walked with $1,250 for his first place showing.

Sunday River is proud to be his home mountain. Say hey when you see him training.

Goals for the season :: Do more competitions and try to get more money without working. So I can pay for rent.

The last time you were scared was when... :: I over rotated a double backflip on the Air Hill, I wasn't really scared it just knocked the wind out of me.

Favorite city for urban :: Portland and Lewiston because the got nasty rails and it's also the only cities I've seshed.

Do you remember the first backflip? Where and when? :: Yes in like 97-98, I did it under the lift in the grave yard and i landed on my face and my whole body went tingly :) The first double I ever tried was at Cranmore in like 2002 when I was on the Fryeburg snowboard team.
