COVID-19 Information

The ski experience is about more than just skiing. We've put together some adjustments to our events and activities for this winter. Please check back right before your visit to get the most up-to-date information. Please note that face coverings are required in all public indoor and outdoor areas at the resort.

Safety Practices & Operational Changes

  • Before you travel to the resort, we ask that you go through the following health screening questions on your own. If you answer "yes" to any of the following, please stay home and come visit us when you're feeling better. 

    • Do you have any of the following symptoms of COVID-19?
      • Fever (a temperature of 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit or higher) or are feeling feverish;
      • Respiratory symptoms such as a runny nose, nasal congestion, sore throat, cough, or shortness of breath;
      • General body symptoms such as muscle aches, chills, and severe fatigue;
      • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea; or
      • Changes in your sense of taste or smell.
    • Have you been in close contact with someone who is suspected or confirmed to have had COVID-19 in the past 14 days? 
      • Please note: healthcare workers caring for COVID-19 patients while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment are not considered to have a close contact exposure and should answer “No” to this question.
    • Have you traveled on non-essential travel in the past 14 days outside of Maine or a state exempted from testing and quarantine requirements?
      • This includes any international travel or travel by cruise ship and any domestic travel, within the US, outside of an exempted state, regardless of the mode of transportation.
  • Face coverings are required for all guests and team members in all public indoor and outdoor areas at the resort, unless actively skiing downhill or actively eating.

    Please follow CDC recommendations and pertinent executive orders from the State of Maine. Face coverings should be dry and unsoiled, have two or more layers, completely cover the nose and mouth with no holes or mesh, and fit snugly against the face. While indoors, this will most likely necessitate using a separate mask from the one worn while skiing.

    • Sunday River Sports' flagship store at South Ridge will be open all winter with full services, as well as the White Cap and Grand Summit stores. 
    • The Jordan Hotel's new store, Aster & Birch, is now open with high-end apparel and home goods. 
    • Stores will limit capacity according to state guidelines. 
    • We encourage the use of credit cards to minimize contact.
    • Changing rooms will not be available.
    • Specialists such as boot fitters will wear personal protective equipment and can only help a limited number of guests at once. Guests are encouraged to call 207-824-5090 to check availability or schedule appointments.
    • Equipment requiring repairs or binding work can be dropped off. 
    • Sanitation and safety practices will be followed to allow items such as helmets, gloves, and jackets to be handled.
    • A selection of Sunday River Logo items are available to purchase online.
    • In following guidelines on gathering limits, no major events are planned for the winter season. 
    • We still plan to hold fireworks and other small-scale events, which will be added to the events calendar throughout the season.
    • Twilight skiing will be available this winter starting December 26. 
    • We will no longer close the Chondola to groom for twilight skiing. 
    • Snow tubing is closed until further notice, but may reopen later this winter.
    • Spa services are available at the Jordan Spa.
    • Reservations are required and can be made by calling 207-824-5328.
    • Guests should not visit and will not be served if they are experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19. 
    • Guests will be required to wear a face mask at all times, including during services booked, and use social distancing in the reception areas.
    • Facials and nail services currently unavailable. 
    • The ice skating rink at the Grand Summit Hotel will be closed this winter.
