L.L.Bean Outdoor Discovery Schools is offering courses at Sunday River once again this summer, with programs including archery, kayaking and stand-up paddleboarding.

Our 80-minute Archery Discovery course is a great place to learn the skills you'll need to enjoy this exciting sport in your own backyard.
This course is a great introduction to life-long archery enjoyment. After brief introductions and a safety talk, you'll receive helpful advice from our expert instructors on how to release an arrow for optimal accuracy and precision. They'll gladly answer any question you have and give you expert tips on the best practices for this exciting sport. All necessary archery equipment is provided.
Our 90-minute Kayaking Discovery course is a fun way to learn, from expert instructors, the fundamental skills and safety techniques you'll need to discover new waterways.
This course covers all the basic skills and safety techniques for kayaking. After brief introductions, our expert paddling instructors will explain kayak design and boat fit. You'll learn about paddling terminology and basic paddling strokes. Our skilled guides will happily share their extensive knowledge of the sport of kayaking and give you insight about places in Maine you might want to explore by kayak. All necessary paddling equipment is provided.

After the brief demonstration where you'll learn basic strokes, our Registered Maine Guides will lead you on an interpretive tour, sharing their knowledge of the plants, wildlife and local history of Round Pond where L.L. Bean was born. You'll explore the pond's small islands and scenic coves filled with an abundance of wildlife, including landlocked salmon and lake trout. From a wealth of stories and experience, our friendly guides will share accounts of their many paddles across the state, giving you even more ideas for future trips. All necessary paddling equipment is provided.
Try out the exciting sport of stand-up paddleboarding in this 80-minute discovery course.
Our exciting, Stand-Up Paddleboarding Discovery course is a great way to learn the popular sport of stand-up paddleboarding - the perfect blend of exercise and fun. Paddleboarding, or SUP as it's commonly called, builds core body strength while allowing you to enjoy scenic lakes, coves and inlets. In a relaxed environment, you'll learn the fundamentals of stand-up paddling and the essential water skills for being safe on the water. Our expert instructors will teach you the history of the sport and share anecdotes of their paddling excursions, giving you ideas about the fun adventures you can have on the water. You'll also learn how to use every piece of equipment, as well as a variety of paddling strokes and have the opportunity to practice each stroke by the shore. All necessary paddleboarding equipment is provided.
