Maine Resort to Offer 50-Person Mountain Weddings This Summer

NEWRY, ME (June 3, 2020)—With many wedding celebrations being postponed due to restrictions from COVID-19, couples are searching for options to be able to hold their wedding day in 2020. This summer, Sunday River will offer special wedding packages to allow brides and grooms the opportunity to celebrate their day in the same setting and style as a larger event, but with more intimate groups of 50 or less to follow current state guidelines on gathering limits.

"A wedding is one of the most important days in a couple's life, and our job is to make it easy, fun, and memorable for them," says Sunday River's wedding sales manager, Noah Tanguay-Collins. "Though it will be much smaller than our usual events, we wanted to provide the top-notch Sunday River experience to those who need to adapt their original plans, while doing everything possible to keep our guests and our team safe."

Sunday River typically hosts over 50 weddings per year and has seen many postponements this spring and summer due to COVID-19. The resort intends to resume full-sized weddings as soon as possible but is currently offering mountain weddings for 50 people or less at the Jordan Hotel and Peak Lodge venues. Both venues offer ample outdoor space for ceremonies as well as indoor restaurant space for receptions, and the smaller group sizes allow for appropriate social distancing measures. Packages are priced to reflect the smaller party size and will vary by the specific catering option selected by the couple.

The resort recently opened the Sunday River Golf Club and the Clubhouse dining as of June 1 and plans to open the Jordan Hotel on July 1 and the Grand Summit Hotel on September 1 for public lodging stays, but is booking wedding events on all dates throughout summer and fall. Information on enhanced health and safety practices implemented by the resort can be found at SundayRiver.com/COVID.

Couples who are interested in pricing and availability for summer 2020 weddings can learn more on SundayRiverWeddings.com. The resort is also booking weddings for 2021, and will soon open dates for 2022.
