Jay 1 Fire Department Wins 24th Annual Firefighters’ Giant Slalom Race at Sunday River Resort

Proceeds from the Firefighters’ Race ($1,000) will be donated by Maine Adaptive Sports and Recreation, in partnership with Sunday River Resorts, to “A Lieutenant Walsh - Firefighter Kennedy Memorial Fund,” in support of both families who lost loved ones in last week’s Boston fire.

Semifinalists Set for The Sixth Annual Dumont Cup at Sunday River Resort

A field of 83 amateur competitors was whittled to 22 after a full day of high-flying antics at The Dumont Cup on Friday

After two qualifying sessions, 22 amateur (Saturday, March 29 update) competitors remain and will move on to the next round, Saturday's semifinals. There they'll compete against the largest roster of professional skiers at The Dumont Cup to date: Olympian Bobby Brown and Torin Yater-Wallace; McRae Williams, Alex Schlopy (also a past Dumont Cup Champion), Matt Walker, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand, Chris Laker, Vinnie Gagnier, PK Hunder, and Kai Mahler. Come tomorrow's finals, 12 of these athletes will advance to compete against last year's Dumont Cup podium who also happens to be this year's Olympic slopestyle podium.

Lib Tech's Near Canada Open Returns to Sunday River Resort

The most creative snowboarding competition NEAR Canada hits Sunday River's slopes on March 15, 2014

Last year, Lib Tech, which builds "b*itchin'" handmade boards really close to Canada (but not in Canada) pulled together the Near Canada Open, which is precisely what it claims to be: a rad snowboarding competition near our neighbor to the nord. Sunday River happens to be near Canada. Thus, Lib Tech is coming back for a second year on March 15 with the help of Snowboarder Magazine, Eastern Boarder, and Crab Grab.
