Bust 'N' Burn Brings World-Class Mogul Skiing Back to Sunday River
Olympians Troy Murphy and Morgan Smith claim the top spots as Smith wins Bust 'N' Burn for the third consecutive year
NEWRY, ME (April 6, 2026) — Sunday River Resort hosted the highly anticipated Bust 'N' Burn freestyle mogul competition over the weekend, where Olympians and local talent took on the bumps on Monday Mourning.
The event drew a stacked field of competitors, from Olympians, World Cup athletes, and former U.S. Ski Team members who have represented the United States on the world stage, to hometown skiers from the Bethel area and rising junior talent from across New England. Among those competing was Dylan Walczyk, a two-time Olympian who represented the U.S. in the men's moguls event at both the 2022 Beijing and 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
The Men's and Women's Divisions offered a total of $22,000 in cash prizes, with first place earning $7,000, second place $3,000, and third place $1,000. The Junior Division featured three age categories: 8–9, 10–11, and 12–14. All competitors were judged on both time and style across the 290 meters long mogul course, which features two jumps on Monday Mourning.
