Signature Lifts

Committed to Excellence

At Sunday River, our lifts aren’t just ways to the top, they are part of the experience.

From the iconic red bubbles of Barker 6 and Jordan 8, to the family-friendly versatility of the Chondola, each lift delivers its own signature view and access to the mountain’s best terrain.

Jordan 8

The Jordan 8, North America’s fastest lift of its kind, carries skiers and snowboarders from the base of Jordan Bowl to the summit in just 4.5 minutes. Each chair seats eight guests in ergonomically heated seats and weighs over one ton. Riders enjoy a smooth, comfortable ride under Sunday River’s signature red bubble, the first red weather shield ever produced by Doppelmayr, with stunning mountain views along the way.

Barker 6

The Barker 6 is Sunday River’s latest chairlift upgrade. Replacing the Barker Express, the high-speed Doppelmayr D-Line delivers comfort, capacity, and speed. Each of its 63 chairs seats six guests in ergonomically heated seats beneath Sunday River’s signature red bubble, carrying riders to the top in just over four and a half minutes for a smooth and fast ascent.

Chondola

The Chondola carries skiers and riders with a unique hybrid design. Six-passenger chairs with Doppelmayr’s extra-comfy “flying couches” from Austria alternate with eight-passenger gondola cabins that provide sheltered, all-weather rides.

As the only Chondola in New England, it operates year-round, giving skiers and riders smooth access to North Peak, and beyond, in winter and hikers and sightseers a relaxed ride in the summer.

Surface Lifts

In 2019, four surface lifts joined the mountain, including three covered red conveyors in South Ridge and a T-Bar on Locke Mountain. The conveyors on the Sundance trail create a smoother learning experience for beginners, with each carpet increasing in pitch to help skiers and riders build confidence as they progress. The T-Bar on Locke Mountain supports race training and competitions.
