Meet Your Host
Master of Ceremonies? Maybe. Master of friggin' pointin'em? Definitely. Donny Pelletier, Maine's Finest Athlete, is back home at Sunday River as host of this year's event.
Raised on the steeps of Agony and White Heat, Donny is known for unmatched grace, elegance, and precision on skis. Or something like that.
Competition Details
This year will feature two divisions, Junior and Open.
Junior will be for competitors ages 8-14 who will compete in a one-run competition on Saturday for awards in the age categories listed below. Awards will be presented at the Foggy Goggle party following Saturday's competition.
The Open division will be for competitors aged 13 and above. This group will compete in a one-run competition on Saturday for a chance to make Sunday's Dual Championship, where they will compete for cash prizes for the top three men and top three women. Sunday's final will consist of a dual mogul championship, with the winner of each heat progressing to the next round.
CASH PRIZES
First Place: $7,000
Second Place: $3,000
Third Place: $1,000
Any athlete who is 13 or 14 years of age and chooses to compete in the Open class will not be eligible for any Junior Division awards.
Practice is scheduled on White Heat on Friday, March 29, from 10AM-2PM. Practice is only for registered competitors.
If the weather on Sunday, March 31st causes the competition to be canceled for the second day, the winners for the cash prizes will be determined based on the results from Saturday's competition.
Divisions
Junior Division:
- 8-9 years old
- 10-11 years old
- 12-14 years old
Open Division:
- Men - Ages 13+
- Women - Ages 13+
Registration
LIMITED SPOTS REMAIN. Once they're gone, they're gone!
Registration is open to skiers only and is limited to the first 100 registrations for the Open division, and the first 40 registrations for the Junior division. The entry fee is $50 per competitor, which does not include a lift ticket. A lift ticket, ticket pack, or season pass is required to compete. Discounted lift tickets for competitors will be available for purchase online before the event.
Check-in will take place at the Barker Bar on Friday and Saturday mornings. Competitors must check in to receive their competition bib.
Judging Criteria
The competition will be judged on the following criteria:
- Turns and Line (60%): The excellence and diversity of skillfully performed turns, maintaining proximity to the fall line whenever possible.
- Air (20%): Excellence in spontaneously performing upright aerial maneuvers within the fall line, with a strict prohibition on executing inverts.
- Speed (20%): The speed rating will be determined by the time set by both a male and female pacesetter.
