Tuesday's 10-Inch Storm Delivers Big for Upcoming Weekend at Sunday River

The resort will expand operations by hundreds of acres across six interconnected peaks

NEWRY, ME (December 3, 2025) – Sunday River will have more than 210 acres of terrain, across six interconnected peaks, open for the weekend following Tuesday's 10-inch storm and a week of nonstop snowmaking operations.

Yesterday's storm dropped 10 inches of natural snow across the mountain, building on a solid base already established through the resort’s aggressive snowmaking.

"When it's cold, our snowmakers make it count," said Sunday River General Manager Brian Heon. "Our team has been going all out for the past week, and as a result, the resort will have six interconnected peaks open for the weekend."

By the weekend, skiers and riders will have access to 18+ trails spanning from the Jordan Bowl to Locke Mountain across six of the eight connected peaks.

Starting today, Barker 6 opens for the season, expanding advanced and intermediate terrain options. On Thursday, the Chondola and Aurora Quad start spinning, opening South Ridge and providing access to upper mountain terrain. South Ridge Lodge also opens Thursday to support the expanded operations. Friday brings the South Ridge Express online along with additional beginner terrain and the opening of Sunday River's Snowsports School for the season.
