Halloween Fun Meets First Tracks at Sunday River
Temperatures and costumes make for a unique early season event at the resort
Newry, ME (October 31, 2024) – Sunday River welcomed skiers and riders back to the mountain for a special Halloween ski day. The Locke Triple started spinning at 10AM, with temperatures reaching up to 70 degrees in the afternoon.
The resort opened for New England Passholders, ticket packs, Ikon Passholders, and Mountain Collective passholders. Guests filled the T2 trail in costumes, enjoying an early taste of winter and celebrating Halloween on the mountain.
Thanks to the dedication and effort of the resort’s snowmaking team, combined with last weekend’s cold temperatures and one of the most advanced snowmaking systems in North America, Sunday River was the first resort in the Northeast to open for outdoor lift-serviced skiing.
“It was great to see the Sunday River community back on the mountain in costumes and in high spirits,” said Brian Heon, General Manager of Sunday River. “This is why we love what we do.”
While today marked a special event, the resort is preparing to open for the 2024/25 season as soon as conditions allow, with an official date yet to be announced. For the latest updates on the season opening, visit sundayriver.com/mountain-report .
