Sunday River Opens Jordan Bowl for 2025/26 Season

Jordan Bowl opens with three top-to-bottom trails, ski-in/ski-out hotel access via Jordan 8

NEWRY, ME (November 21, 2025)—Sunday River Resort celebrated a major milestone this morning with the official opening of the Jordan Bowl for the 2025/26 winter season, featuring three top-to-bottom trails. The Jordan 8 lift began spinning at 9AM, marking the start of operations for one of the resort’s most beloved peaks.

The opening of Jordan Bowl activates full ski-in/ski-out access at The Jordan, the resort's premier slopeside hotel, exclusively serviced by the state-of-the-art Jordan 8. This world-class eight-passenger chairlift features heated seats and weather-blocking bubbles in Sunday River's signature red.

The Jordan 8 is one of the most advanced chairlifts in the world and is the fastest eight-person chairlift in North America. A Doppelmayr D-Line design, the lift transports skiers and riders from the base of Jordan Bowl to the summit in just 4.5 minutes.

The Jordan Bowl is also home to The Igloo, the only slopeside igloo in North America. Constructed entirely from snow and ice, this unique structure takes on a new design each season. Since its debut in 2023, The Igloo has become a signature experience at the resort, bringing European alpine tradition to the Maine mountains. Construction has started for this season's igloo, with an opening date to be announced.

Looking ahead, Sunday River's snowmaking team is preparing for the next phase of terrain expansion. With snowmaking underway across the resort's eight interconnected peaks, the team is working to connect all 19 lifts as quickly as conditions allow.
