Maine Brew Fest & Fall Festival Return to Sunday River

NEWRY, ME (August 30, 2021)—As pumpkin spice makes its seasonal comeback, classic fall events return to Sunday River’s calendar with Maine Brew Fest on September 18 and Fall Festival on October 9-10, featuring the 22nd Annual North American Wife Carrying Championship, the 7th Annual New England Cornhole Championship, and the Blue Mountain Arts and Craft Fair.

Maine Brew Fest – September 18 at 1-5PM

The Maine Brew Fest features over 20 Maine breweries under one tent at Sunday River’s South Ridge Lodge, including Atlantic Brewing, Banded Brewing, Bangor Beer Co., Bissell Brothers, Cushnoc Brewing, Definitive Brewing, Foundation Brewing Co., Geary Brewing, Lone Pine Brewing Co., Maine Beer Company, Mason’s Brewing Co., Mast Landing, Nonesuch River Brewing, Norumbega Cidery, Norway Brewing Co., Orono Brewing Co., Ricker Hill Hard Cider, Rising Tide, Saco River Brewing, Sebago Brewing, Shipyard Brewing, Tumbledown Brewing, and Woodland Farms Brewery.

Three ticket types are available now online at mebrewfest.com. VIP, at $57 per person with a limited quantity available, includes an hour of early access to the tent from 1-2PM, access to the general tasting from 2-5PM, and a sampling glass. The General Taster ticket, which is $47 through August 31, $51 September 1-17, gives access to the general tasting from 2-5PM with a sampling ticket. There is also a Designated Driver ticket for $15. The event is for ages 21 and up.

Fall Festival – October 9-10

Fall Festival is Sunday River’s classic homecoming event to celebrate fall foliage and the coming ski season. The weekend features the Blue Mountain Arts and Craft Fair with artisans and vendors, scenic chairlift rides, live music, and more. Two signature competitions—the North American Wife Carrying Championship and the New England Cornhole Championship—are the feature events for the holiday weekend.

North American Wife Carrying Championship – October 9 at 10AM

Each year this fantastic event draws over 2,500 spectators who line the alpine course to watch teams of 50 husbands and wives from around North America compete for the grand prize of the wife's weight in beer plus five times her weight in cash. Registration is open now for $70 per couple.

New England Cornhole Championship – October 10 at 10AM

Sunday River will be hosting the New England Cornhole Championship, an American Cornhole Association-sanctioned event. A total of 32 teams vie for top honors and big money in South Ridge base area. Registration is open now for $30 per team.
